
James…. aka “House,” was born in (The Delta) Greenville, Mississippi, November, 1962. He moved to Las
Vegas, Nevada with his parents in the summer of 1978. Upon high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S.
Army and served three years with the 82nd Airborne Division. After completing military service, he returned to
Las Vegas and attended the Lenz Talent Agency where he studied acting and radio/television commercial
training. House’s talents and acting abilities were noticed immediately and his career took off. He performed in
several shows throughout the Las Vegas area in films such as Heat with Burt Reynolds and Over the Top with
Sylvester Stallone. As he honed his acting skills he moved on to stage plays such as, You Can’t Take It With
You and This and That. In a continuous effort to perfect his talent, James studied with Mr. Jack Bell and the
late Mr. Sly Ali Smith of The Las Vegas Little Theater and was featured in a starring role in, A Soldiers Play
and No Place to Be Somebody. He also studied with the late Mr. Joe Behar of the University of Nevada Las
Vegas where he was recruited to perform in, A Few Good Men and A Raisin in the Sun. James reenlisted in the
Army, October 1986 and met Artistic Director Eric Shepard of Vive Le Arts Theater in Killeen, Texas, and was
asked to serve as Assistant Director in The Buddy Holly Story and Dark at the Top of the Stairs.
While in Texas, James graduated from Central Texas College and founded his 501(c) (3) non-profit
organization, H.O.U.S.E. Theatre Arts Group (Helping Our Underserved Skills & Education). After serving 20
years, he retired from the U.S. Army and currently resides in North Carolina where he served as a volunteer
youth basketball and baseball coach.. He opened his second Enrichment Center in Cary, NC where he currently
works with underprivileged children in the Triangle area.
House has appeared in several commercials and short films. He has directed one television show and has
starred in or served as an assistant director on Independent films such as The Watchmen, Divine Intervention,
Hell of A Situation The Movie, and TAG. He has directed and served as Stage Manager on stage productions
such as The Amistad Saga, Butterfly Wings, The Claudine Story, Strong Woman, Spare The Rod, Spoil The
Child, Lord, Why am I Still Single, A Man Sensitive to a Woman's Needs, and the hit stage play Hell of A
Situation. In addition, James has directed four gospel music videos and two hip-hop music videos. He serves
as the voice for Commander House in the adult animated series War Dawgz. He has worked with such artist as:
Radio-One personality, Melissa Wade, comedian, J. Anthony Brown, actress, Roz Ryan, actor Miguel A. Nunez
Jr., actor Ernest "Raj" Thomas, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, Pastor Shirley Caesar, Melvin Williams, William
Becton and William Taylor. Actors Curtis Blake and Regina McCrary, both from, Diary of a Mad Black
Woman, Evelyn Turentine-Agee, Ann McCrary from B.E.T. Dr. Bobby Jones Gospel Hour; Comedians James
Stephens III, Reginald “Bro Man” Ballard, Chris Thomas, Grave Digger, Mike Brooks, Hurricane, …and many
more.
James enjoys spending time with his only child, (son) James House II. He has accomplished a lot and continues
to give back to the community and especially the youth. When asked how did he get started, he replied, "I was
taught in the south by my grandmother Hazel Haynes-House, to give back to the community". He acknowledges
that none of this would be possible without God on his side and gives all the honor and exaltation through this
statement: "To God Be The Glory!"
